Tropical Wholefoods practice and policy of fair trade is clear and practical. These are the key elements:

1) We have long term partnerships with all our overseas fair trade partners

2) We provide training and information to our fair trade partners, in food quality assurance, solar drying technology, business management, information technology, organic farming techniques and ethical trading

3) We source and send out useful technology from the UK to our fair trade partners

4) We pay our fair trade partners guaranteed prices for produce, which ensure good profits for the farmers they work with

5) We make, wherever possible, prepayments in order to allow our fair trade partners to finance production

6) We give clear orders well in advance of production, in order that fair trade partners can plan production effectively

7) We facilitate overseas partners access to international soft loans or grants to expand their businesses

8) We are open to external monitoring of all our fair trade partners' work and our own

Tropical Wholefoods is a member of IFAT, a global network of Fair Trade Organisations working to improve the livelihoods and well being of disadvantaged people in developing countries, and to change the unfair structures of international trade.
